But this scheme is already being tested in a few Latin American countries and charges a fee for each extra member worth roughly one-quarter the price of a “standard” Netflix plan.  The company didn’t specify the price of these new fees when it confirmed the plan Tuesday.

Streaming at any additional households for more than two weeks, would prompt the account to set up — and pay for — additional “homes,” with a limit on how many additional homes you can add depending on how much you’re already paying for Netflix.

These so-called  brought about a wave of new services, including , , , , among others — a flood of streaming options that has complicated how many services you must use (and, often, pay for) to watch your favorite shows and movies online.  Netflix’s dominance of streaming video — not to mention years of unflagging subscriber growth — pushed nearly all of Hollywood’s major media companies to pour billions of dollars into their own streaming operations.

Apparently we should all be kicking off Wordle with the word “roate.” Honestly, read this whole article, it’s great. I just finished reading a fascinating piece by Tyler Glaiel, a programmer and game designer who tried to figure out the best possible starting word.

Wordle is the work of software engineer Josh Wardle, who originally created the game for his partner, a fan of word games, and tells the BBC it will never become laden with ads. Extremely online people may remember Wardle as the creator of Place, an utterly wild collaborative art project/social experiment that sent the internet into a tizzy in April 2017.

Kids with attention deficit disorder have the advantage of fewer distractions when schooling from home. Some kids simply like learning from home better because they can concentrate easier, use their time more efficiently or don’t have to worry about bullying and social pressures as much. While Pope stresses that “there are far more negatives” overall for students from the past year, she also highlighted that there have been positives for kids. Older kids can fit schooling around their work schedules much easier.

“We surveyed 11,000 high school students during the pandemic and at least 30% of them said that mental health was one of their very top concerns,” said Pope. “Typically, we see homework as a top concern, or grades.” 

Netflix is ratcheting up its efforts to get freeloading viewers to pay up and will start charging accounts for password sharing early next year, instituting a system that add fees to your plan for “extra member” subaccounts when people outside your household use your membership.
